Old Place, New Vibe

Reclaimed Materials & Donations

Turkey Toe has always been built this way. Greg Gebben's original back 9 was raised on donated windmills, forge tools, and family heirlooms — and that same spirit is carrying the Party Barn and caretaker house forward today: secondhand appliances, cabinets, and fixtures, sourced, measured, and blended into the new build so the old and the new feel like one ranch, not two eras.

Chapter One — The Back Nine

Greg Gebben's Legacy Donations

Friends, family, and neighbors who donated pieces of themselves — artifacts, antiques, trees, and heirlooms — to help bring the original Turkey Toe back 9 to life.

The Story Continues

Old Place, New Vibe

The windmills, forge, and antiques above built the original back 9 — the soul of Turkey Toe. Now, as the Party Barn and caretaker house take shape, that same spirit of giving things a second life is carrying forward below: reclaimed appliances, cabinets, and fixtures blending old materials into the new build, so the whole ranch still feels like one story instead of two eras bolted together.

Chapter Two — Pickup Day, Oct 5, 2026

A full kitchen set — range, refrigerator, over-the-range microwave, and matching cabinet runs — came off a secondhand listing in Denver and headed straight for the Party Barn kitchen. Every piece gets measured and photographed on pickup day, then cross-referenced against the CAD floor plan before a single cabinet goes in the wall.

GE electric coil-top range photographed outdoors during pickup, white finish

Range

GE JBP48WOB4WW (30" freestanding electric coil-top)

Manual knob controls, digital clock, standard storage drawer — headed for the Party Barn kitchen's main cook run.

Kenmore Coldspot top-freezer refrigerator shown closed and open during pickup, white finish

Refrigerator

Kenmore Coldspot 106.70852991 (built by Whirlpool, Nov 2000)

18 cu ft class top-freezer, R134a refrigerant — data plate confirmed the exact model and manufacture date on pickup day.

Over-the-Range Microwave

GE JVM3160 series

1.6 cu ft, matches the 30" cabinet opening in the kitchen run — same GE family as the range and fridge.

Oak base cabinet shown closed and open with pull-out drawer trays, blue-tape dimension label visible

Base & Upper Cabinets

Honey oak cabinet sets, multiple runs

Full kitchen cabinet runs plus bathroom vanities — every piece tagged, measured, and mapped into the Party Barn floor plan before install.

Loaded & Hauled

MVWD service truck, strapped and ready

Mountain View Window & Door lent a truck and rack system for the haul — cabinets, trim, and cutouts strapped in and ready for the mountain drive.

Trailer loaded with refrigerator, dishwasher, cabinets, and countertop pieces strapped down for transport

Trailer Load

Full appliance set staged for transport

The whole kitchen set — fridge, dishwasher, cabinets, and countertop sections — staged and strapped on the trailer for the trip to the Party Barn.

Thanks to Our Sister Company

None of this pickup day happens without Mountain View Window & Door — Devon's sister company and a sponsor inside the Art of Construction community. A truck, a trailer, rack systems, and a crew willing to drive to Denver and back are the quiet infrastructure behind every piece in this build.

This is what the AOC community is built on — real companies sharing real resources so a smaller build like Turkey Toe can move faster and spend smarter. Old place, new vibe, built together.

Why We Build This Way

Thrifty, Sustainable, and Full of Character

Stretch the Budget

Turkey Toe funds its own build-out through events and venue revenue — every dollar saved on a secondhand appliance is a dollar that goes further toward finishing the Party Barn and bringing on full-time caretakers.

Keep Good Materials Working

A lot of what gets pulled out of a remodel still has years of life left in it. Giving it a second home here instead of a landfill is just common sense — and it's the Old West way: use what you've got.

Real History, Real Character

Reclaimed pieces carry their own story into the build — mismatched, lived-in, and real, the same way the rest of Turkey Toe is built on what's already here rather than something manufactured to look old.

Get Involved

Have Materials to Donate?

If you've got appliances, cabinetry, fixtures, lumber, or hardware sitting around from a remodel or a job site — kitchen sets, bathroom vanities, doors, trim, lighting, anything structural or finish-grade — Turkey Toe wants to hear about it. Every donated piece gets measured, photographed, and worked into the build the same way the Oct 5 pickup did.

Reach out with photos and rough dimensions, and we'll tell you quickly whether it's a fit for the current build plan.
